Nassau County SPCA may want to give pets the taste of a Thanksgiving diet, but common festive dishes contain ingredients that are toxic to dogs and cats or can cause indigestion. I want to remind everyone that it is abundant. reminder:
- Dogs can swallow bones without chewing or choking. Bones can tear the digestive tract and puncture it.
- Other ingredients to avoid; unbaked dough containing garlic, onions, leaks, chives, yeast and desserts.
- Make sure the trash is out of reach.
- Guests can get a little busy when they arrive, and a packed house can overstimulate and stress your pet. Pay attention to the open door and make sure your pet is wearing a collar and an updated tag.
- Set rules for child visitors on how your pet plays and interacts.
- Make sure your pet has a safe and quiet place to retire.

** Senior Alert ** Susie is a female border collie between the ages of 12 and 14 who has recently lost her father sadly and is about to survive a golden age full of love. Susie suffers from severe arthritis and chronic skin disease, but that doesn’t prevent her from becoming a great companion. She has a young and playful spirit, even though her body does not always respond. She is a pet and loves to be out of exploration and dining! She can live with another gentle dog and children over 12 years old.
In honor of November being the month of Adopt-A-Senior Pet, I would like to remind you that older people are already trained and are definitely more calm than younger poochs. Susie will be an eternal foster parent in a home that can be adopted or manage her medicine. If you can help save Susie, call 631-360-7575 today for more information.

It’s very difficult to follow the story behind Zena, but it seems that her owner has been kicked out and left her behind, tied to a tree with no food or water. Everyone is distressed by this sweet girl, but I hope this woman’s life will improve. Zena is kind to people and is recommended for families with children over 15 years old. This 5-year-old baby is very petite and weighs 52 pounds. She is trained at home and knows to “sit,” “get off,” and “touch.” Zena loves to play well, so she is looking for an active home. Zena is advised to go alone as a pet. If you are interested in our girls, please contact the placement team at (516) 785-5220, Adoption @ tohmail.org, Foster @ tohmail.org, or Rescue@tohmail.org.

Audrey and Black Panther were abandoned wildlife rescued from dangerous areas. A small four-month-old Audrey is always ready to eat, and Black Panther likes to act as a guardian of all kittens. Both are, of course, clever, but over time they will be a great addition to any home.
Maximus is a surprisingly handsome three month old kitten, all with black paws and a sweet attitude. He is very affectionate, loves to hug and snorts cute babies. He makes friends with other cats and children. Maximus was part of a wild colony. He suffered some kind of shocking trauma. I may have been hit by a car. He has been hospitalized, treated and is on track. He holds his head tilted, but he can turn his head on a regular basis. He runs on a slightly impaired walk, but can use all four limbs independently. He loves playing with toys and is learning how to wrestle with foster parents.
For more information on adoption of Audrey, Black Panther and Maximus, please contact email@example.com or call 631-306-4616. You can also visit their website at http://www.paws-li.org
