After Farmingdale’s operations plummeted from the fourth phase of the state’s reopening plan, New York is being asked to make an online petition to allow Adventureland Amusement Park to resume from the coronavirus closure.
Former employee started Change.org petitionAt the time of this post, it was slightly below the 7,500 signature target to request Governor Andrew Cuomo to reopen the amusement park.
“I Steve Gentile, owner of Adventureland, said: “HHopefully, as long as we keep our industry closed, we will raise some awareness of what is happening in our industry. “
State-wide amusement parks were closed along with most other companies to curb the coronavirus epidemic when the coronavirus epidemic peaked in New York in March. However, amusement parks and arcades are in several industries, including cinemas, and have been excluded from the fourth and final phases of the reopening plan. Like gyms, bowling alleys, casinos and malls, these industries were allowed to reopen late.
Gentile said it was “uneasyly wonderful” to learn that Adventureland had finished Phase 4 when the Long Island region reached its level reopening in July. The company said it intended to buy cleaners, plan social distances, and cap capacity for park users to stay safe, but said they had no chance.
“Each week gone by was just a fight,” he recalled. “At the beginning of August, they came to the reality that they wouldn’t reopen the park.”
The park season usually ends with a Halloween celebration. We now hope that the state will be able to reopen in the spring and will have some financial support to survive until it loses a year’s worth of revenue.
“There aren’t many companies that can go with zero income during this period,” he said, and he said he couldn’t hire his 650 staff this season.
He regularly asks if National Association of Realtors members are interested in selling the best real estate on Route 110, but noted that he always declines. But now he keeps the door open to that option.
“If this continues their way, it may need to be a way to be dealt with,” he said.
Gentiles have pointed out that the amusement park throughout the tri-state area, not the Empire State, has reopened.
“Entertainment dollars from New York and Long Island are flowing across state borders to New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut, where amusement parks are open,” he said. “THe is losing his income that way. “
He wondered why open-air amusement parks couldn’t be considered safe to reopen.
“It’s confusing to see other industries open,” he said. “WWhat is the difference between a casino and an arcade? I will give you money instead of toys. “
Meanwhile, the amusement park industry Adventureland and others have hired a robanist to file a proceeding with a member of Albany. If that doesn’t work, they are considering a class action.
“That’s our last resort,” he said.
