Suffolk County executive Steve Beron announced on Wednesday that the county is expanding its free and rapid COVID-19 inspection program to local veterans.
The first responder’s rapid inspection program, launched last month, provided hundreds of free rapid inspections to members of local law enforcement agencies, fire departments and emergency medical services, officials said.
Veterans can sign up for weekend appointments until January on the online portal. The county distributes links to veterans’ organizations.
The program also partners with Long Island Cares to provide veterans in need of 12 to 15 pounds of non-perishable food.
Veterans are advised to call 311 for more information. Suffolk officials said they would not reveal the location of the test site and would receive the information when people made a promise.
